We went to Lincoln Ristorante, one of Manhattan's ritziest restaurants, to chat with head chef Jonathan Benno about the intricacies of homemade pasta and the art of modern italian food. Before opening Lincoln Ristorante in 2010, Benno worked with Thomas Keller at The French Laundry in Napa Valley and at New York's Per Se. It's fitting that, for this episode of Munchies, Benno chose to visit chef Nick Kim, who trained under Masa Takayama and then worked across the hall from Per Se as the head chef of Masa. We had some of the best sushi we've ever had—and some of the best food we've featured on this show, period—at Kim's restaurant, Neta. After enjoying a 15-course omakase with Benno, his sous chef Chung Chow, and Mac Truck owner Dominick Tesoriero, we headed north for a beer at Peter McManus Cafe and then a late-night tripe cutlet sandwich at Lincoln. Hello marzipans, one of my most requested things to do was another cooking video, so here I am today showing you how to make "frittelle" :D As I said in the video, this was my first time, and I wouldn't say that they were great but they were definitely yummy and I think they might be a great gift for Valentine's Day ^_^ Anyway, after I tried this recipe (that is the easiest one) I thought about some useful tips to make them even more delicious: - you can use some baking powder for an extra soft result; - you can add chocolate or cream on the inside or just some honey on the top; - they are better if served cold. A light & fluffy butter cream frosting recipe, ideal for piping and for achieving picture perfect frosting swirls on both cakes and cupcakes! CHECK OZ/GRAM CONVERSIONS IN RECIPE BELOW This simple recipe and step by step tutorial will ensure you have the BEST looking and tasting frosting for all your cakes and cupcakes, for years to come. Tools & Equipment: Electric mixer - (whisk or paddle attachment is fine) Spatula Ingredients: Powdered sugar - 1lb 13oz / 850g - Sifted Whole milk - 1-2 tablespoons (add / subtract to alter frosting consistency) Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon Unsalted butter - 250g / 9 1/4oz For a firmer frosting, add less milk, for a frosting with less 'hold' add more milk. Use the milk to determine the overall consistency of your finished frosting. Toronto's Guu Izakaya is a rare restaurant for a few reasons. It's the only place we know of where the staff happily shouts at you as soon as you enter the door. It's also one of the few Japanese spots in the city that's actually run by Japanese people. Guu is known for its spicy squid rings, baked oysters, fried chicken, and massive steins of beer.
